5 Foods To Eat Before A Work Out

What do you usually eat or drink before working out? Whatever it is, it should be something that could keep you going while keeping your body fit. No matter what time of the day you choose to work out, you should never be too full or too hungry before hitting the gym.

Many people would have different suggestions as to what foods to eat before working out, but they would all agree that protein and carbs are the best foods to eat prior to exercise. Protein increases lean muscle tissue and strengthens the immune system. Carbohydrates, on the other hand, is the best source of energy.  It breaks down into glucose and is stored in the muscles as glycogen. During exercise, the glycogen is converted back to glucose and is used for energy.

Here are five great sources of healthy protein and carbohydrates. They are nutritious, easy to prepare and digest, and can be eaten in a short amount of time.

1. Oatmeal
A steamy bowl of oatmeal will supply you with enough energy to help you have a better workout, whether you are working out at the gym or taking a power walk or jog.

2. Fruits
A fruit contains natural sugar that your body can use as fuel. It is also easy to digest, thus allowing your body to easily absorb its nutrients that your body can use to keep going through your work out.

3. Yogurt
Eat your fruits with yoghurt and you already have a perfect snack that will boost your energy levels and keep you satisfied throughout any physical activity. It also contains calcium, which is beneficial to your bones.

4. Peanut Butter
Two tablespoons of peanut butter is equal to 9 grams of protein. It is easy to digest so it's the best thing to eat if you are working out within the hour.

5. Green Tea
In addition to drinking water, the antioxidants you will get from a cup of green tea will help you eliminate body toxins and keep you hydrated.
