But at the same time, we are reminded. as well, that we should take care of our physical heart and avoid getting it broken. So, I'll be sharing with you how I take care of my own heart and the hearts of the people I love.
5 Heart Health Tips:
1. Check-up
First, go see a doctor and go through lab tests that will give you an idea of the current physical state of your heart. A couple of examples are your blood pressure and cholesterol levels. From there, you will know whether you simply have to keep and maintain a healthy heart or you need to put extra work to get your heart health back to normal.
2. Stay Active
If you're like me who spends pretty much of my working time sitting in front of my PC, you better get up and start moving. Yup, I take quick breaks once in a while, either to get a glass of water, pee break, or simply to get a fresh breath of air outside. Avoid staying sedentary for extended periods of time. So, take a walk or use the stairs whenever and wherever you can.
3. Eat for your Heart
I know greasy comfort foods are such a tease and so easy to grab when you want them, but they're sure to lead to clogged arteries and an unhealthy heart. If you really want to make your heart happy, go for clean white meats, fresh fish and of course, fruits and veggies! And when you feel like snacking, you may nibble on a piece of dark chocolate and some nuts, preferably unsalted, and avocado! These will all help cut out all the bad cholesterol in your body.
4. Eliminate Stress
We encounter things everyday that contribute to high stress levels. It's inevitable sometimes. But if we take some time to free our mind of these stresses, it can significantly affect our well-being in a positive way. Read a book, tune in to your favorite music, dance, watch feel-good movies, or do yoga. For some, praying and meditation works, as well. Or jot down all the things that you are grateful for. It will not only help your heart stay healthy, but you will also experience that overall sense of happiness and joy.
5. Supplements for your Heart
I'm sure you are aware that the food we eat today simply is not enough to provide all the nutrients our body needs, especially our heart. Luckily, there are high-quality nutritionals that can now provide the nutrients we need to promote a healthy heart. These are fiber, garlic, fish oil, CoQ10, and grape seed extract.
I hope that with these tips, you will get to enjoy your life more with your family and friends and avoid being heart broken, literally and figuratively.
