Today is World Diabetes Day! It is celebrated on November 14th to mark the birthday of Frederick Banting who, together with Charles Best, discovered insulin in 1922, a life-saving treatment for diabetes patients. This day was started by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and World Health Organization (WHO) to raise global awareness of diabetes, its rapidly increasing rate around the world and how to prevent this disease in most cases.

According to WHO, there are more than 346 million people worldwide who have diabetes. This number is more likely to double by 2030 without intervention. That's why there's no better time than now to do something about it.
Jean Claude Mbanya, President of IDF, is calling the world to go blue today to support the diabetes cause.

You may also join in the fight to put an end to diabetes once and for all. Get involved by raising your hand and taking a pledge to Stop Diabetes.

And the most important thing is to commit to change your lifestyle and switch to healthier choices to prevent diabetes. We all know that a healthy diet is an essential part of taking better care of yourself. But that's not all! Exercise is also a great way to prevent or manage diabetes. Here's a video that will tell you about type 1 and type 2 diabetes, the importance of exercise in diabetes, and exercise plans that are easy to keep.
